Shashank Subramanyam

Shashank Subramanyam is an internationally respected flutist known for his command of the Carnatic idiom and advanced training in Hindustani music. Born in Rudrapatna and raised in a family with strong musical interests, he began performing publicly at a very young age and entered the professional field while still in his early teens. His career has since taken him to prestigious festivals and concert platforms around the world, where he has collaborated with leading artists from Indian classical, orchestral, and global music traditions.

Shashank’s style reflects a sophisticated understanding of melody and rhythm, particularly through the Carnatic framework of improvisation. He is widely noted for adapting the bamboo flute to a broader melodic range, allowing him to explore techniques traditionally associated with vocal music.
