Biography
Saskia Rao-de Haas is an internationally acclaimed cellist, composer, and educator based in New Delhi. Originally trained in Western classical music, she became one of the foremost practitioners of Hindustani classical music and is widely recognised for developing the Indian cello, an instrument adapted specifically for Indian classical performance. A disciple of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, she has performed at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, including the Dover Lane Music Conference, the Saptak Festival, the Kennedy Centre, and the Cello Biennale. Beyond performance, she is an influential music educator, founder of the Sangeet4All initiative, author, and cultural entrepreneur dedicated to expanding access to music education and fostering cross-cultural artistic dialogue.
