Biography
Ruturaj Hinge hails from Akola, Maharashtra, and is currently based in Pune. His musical journey has developed alongside a strong academic foundation, demonstrating a balanced engagement with both higher education and the performing arts. He has completed his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (B.A. LL.B.) from Yashwantrao Chavan Law College, Pune, and went on to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Modern Law College, Pune. He has also studied at MES Garware College of Commerce, contributing to his broad academic exposure.
In the field of Indian classical music, Ruturaj has received structured training in tabla through respected learning spaces such as Taalyogi Ashram and Awartan Gurukul. He has been a student of Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, one of the most influential figures in contemporary tabla pedagogy, which places his training within a recognized lineage of Hindustani percussion. His learning reflects an emphasis on clarity of taal, discipline of practice, and a deep understanding of rhythmic grammar.
His early education includes schooling at institutions such as Riverdale High School, Sinhagad Spring Dale School, and Piton State College, indicating a consistent academic trajectory. Based in Pune—a major hub for Indian classical music—Ruturaj continues to engage with tabla through ongoing study and practice, contributing to the living tradition of Hindustani percussion with a grounded and methodical approach.
