Biography

Pandit Ravindra Talegaonkar is a distinguished harmonium virtuoso and a prominent carrier of the Gwalior Gharana tradition. Born into the illustrious Talegaonkar family of Agra, he is the son of the legendary Pandit Raghunath Talegaonkar, a seminal figure who dedicated his life to the propagation of Gwalior vocal music.

Ravindra Ji’s style is characterised by a "vocal" approach to the harmonium, often referred to as Samvadini Vadan, where the instrument is played to mirror the complex nuances of the human voice. Beyond his role as a premier accompanist to maestros, he is an established soloist and a composer. His contribution to the archive is especially significant as he maintains the "Raagayan" tradition in Agra, ensuring that the Gwalior style remains a vibrant part of the city’s cultural fabric.
