Prafulla Bhattacharya is a dedicated and accomplished tabla player whose musical journey reflects rigorous training under some of the most respected names in Indian classical percussion. He began learning tabla at the early age of seven under the guidance of Vasant Vishnupurikar, where he developed a strong foundation in rhythm, technique, and traditional repertoire.

Prafulla later trained under the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha Khan, one of the most influential figures in Hindustani percussion. This phase of his training shaped his approach to accompaniment and solo performance, instilling clarity, precision, and expressive depth. He continues to refine his art through advanced training with eminent maestros, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar, and Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, reflecting his ongoing commitment to growth and excellence.

Prafulla’s artistry has been recognised through numerous prizes and honors at district, state, zonal, and national level competitions, highlighting his technical command and musical sensitivity.
