Poongulam Subramanian

Poongulam S. Subramanian is a Carnatic mridangam artist from Tamil Nadu and an A-Grade artiste of All India Radio, Chennai. He received his initial training from his father, Maha Vidwan Poongulam R. Sabesa Iyer, and later advanced his studies under Srimushnam V. Raja Rao. Since the early 1990s, he has been a regular accompanist for leading Carnatic vocalists and instrumentalists at major sabhas and the Chennai December Music Season. He has performed internationally, contributed to percussion ensembles including Ghatam Karthick's heArtbeat, mentored young percussionists, and received honours such as Yuva Kala Bharathi, Naada Oli, and Sangeetha Sapta Sagara for his contribution to Carnatic percussion.
