Biography
Pavithra Chari is an Indian vocalist, composer, and playback singer known for her work across Hindustani classical, contemporary, and independent music. Trained under Smt. Shubha Mudgal and Shri Satya Narayan Maharana, her musical foundation is rooted in classical traditions while extending into modern collaborative formats.
She is widely recognized as one half of the duo Shadow and Light, alongside Anindo Bose, known for original compositions that blend classical elements with contemporary arrangements. Her work includes contributions to projects such as “Dua,” featured in a Grammy-nominated album by the Berklee Indian Ensemble. In film music, she has collaborated with composers including A.R. Rahman, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Santhosh Narayanan, and Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Beyond performance, Pavithra Chari is also engaged in interdisciplinary practice as a UNESCO-certified expressive arts-based therapist and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. Through initiatives like Chitrahaar Live, she continues to explore diverse musical formats, contributing to both classical and contemporary music landscapes.
