Parth Bhumkar

Parth Bhumkar is an Indian classical percussionist recognized primarily for his work on the pakhawaj, one of the principal percussion instruments of the Hindustani classical tradition. In addition to pakhawaj, he is also associated with tabla performance, particularly in collaborative and competitive contexts. Through his performances, he contributes to the tradition of rhythmic accompaniment and solo percussion within Indian classical music.

He received his training under the guidance of Pt. Govind Bhilare and Pt. Tukaram Bhumkar, developing a strong foundation in tala, layakari, and traditional percussion repertoire. His musicianship reflects the disciplined approach of the guru-shishya parampara, focusing on clarity of rhythm, structured improvisation, and traditional compositions for pakhawaj performance.

Parth Bhumkar has performed at several classical music festivals and cultural programs across India. His appearances include performances at events such as Aundh Sangeet Mahotsav, where he presented a pakhawaj duet exploring rhythmic cycles like Chautaal and Aaditaal. He has also participated in productions such as “Parampara Ke Padchinha” at Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav and collaborative percussion projects like “Taal Padmadeep.” He was awarded first prize at the Saptak Shastriya Taal Vadya Competition in Ahmedabad, a recognition for emerging percussionists in Indian classical music.
