Biography
Parimal Chakraborty is a seasoned performer whose career spans more than two and a half decades of continuous engagement with Indian classical music on national and international stages. Over the last 25 years, he has travelled extensively across several foreign countries, performing alongside many renowned musicians and contributing to the global presentation of Hindustani classical music.
He has given performances at nearly all major classical music conferences throughout India and has also appeared widely abroad. Over the years, Parimal has collaborated with an impressive range of eminent artists, including the late Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya, Pandit Kushal Das, Pandit Sarathi Chatterjee, Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee, Pandit Alok Lahiri, Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pandit Kartik Kumar, Pandit Mani Prasad, Prabhakar Karekar, Arati Ankalikar, Pandit Samaresh Chowdhury, Ustad Ashish Khan, and the late Pandit Jagdish Prasad, among many others. These associations reflect both his versatility and the high regard in which he is held within the classical music community.
In addition to his work on the concert stage, Parimal has also contributed to film music. He has worked with leading vocalists such as Hariharan and K. J. Yesudas for a Malayalam film project and has been involved in the music production of several Bengali films in recent years. His recorded work includes multiple CDs and cassettes released by major music labels such as HMV, Times Music, T-Series, Bihan Music, and other established recording companies.
Through sustained performance, collaboration, and recording, Parimal has built a career marked by consistency, musical depth, and wide-ranging professional experience. His work continues to connect traditional Indian classical music with diverse audiences across concert platforms, recordings, and film projects.
