Biography

Paban Das Baul (born 1961) is a Baul singer and composer from Mohammedpur, Murshidabad district, West Bengal. He is associated with Baul music and also performs with instruments such as the dubki and ektara.

His early influences included his father and Baul singers in his region. He later collaborated with guitarist Sam Mills, resulting in the album Real Sugar (1997), which combined Bengali music with Western elements.

He has also worked with artists including State of Bengal and Susheela Raman and has performed at international events, including the Jaipur Literature Festival and concerts in Europe.

Paban Das Baul has been associated with the wider recognition of Baul music on international platforms and has contributed to recordings and performances across India and abroad.
