Nitin Ware

Shri Nitin Ware’s musical journey is rooted in lineage and long-term dedication to tabla. Based in Nashik, he received his first training from his father, Pandit Kamlakarji Ware, a respected tabla player in the region. This early exposure placed him within a living tradition from childhood. He later trained under the late Pandit Bhanudasji and Pandit Shashikant Muley, strengthening both his technique and musical understanding.

His playing is shaped by gharana-based values. Instead of focusing on display, he gives importance to clear bowls, strong structure, and sensitive accompaniment. His style follows an “old school” approach, where rhythm supports melody and form with balance and control.

Alongside performance, Nitin Ware has contributed as an organizer and teacher. In 2014, he founded the Nashik Tabla Chilla Mohotsav, a festival dedicated to extended solo tabla recitals. Unlike time-bound concerts, this platform allows artists to present rare and well-prepared compositions in full depth. The festival has become a special space for serious tabla listening.

He is also the founder and guru of the Aaditaal Tabla Academy, where he trains students in traditional tabla methods, ensuring continuity of technique and repertoire.

As an accompanist, he is widely respected and regularly performs with leading classical vocalists, including Vidushi Manjiri Asanare-Kelkar and Pt. Shounak Abhisheki. Through performance, teaching, and cultural work, Shri Nitin Ware continues to strengthen the living tradition of Indian classical percussion.
