Biography
Mohd Saqib Khan is an emerging Indian classical sitarist and vocalist from the Delhi-based Kairana Gharana, recognized for his evolving presence in the Hindustani classical music circuit. Born in 1999, he carries forward a rich musical lineage as the grandson of Ustad Jeemu Khan Saheb. His artistry reflects a balance between traditional gharana aesthetics and contemporary musical exploration.
He began his musical training at the age of five and has studied under noted gurus, including Intizar Ahmed, Akhtar Nawaz Khan, and the renowned sitar maestro Shahid Parvez. Alongside his practical training, he has completed a Visharad degree from Prayag Sangeet Samiti and pursued academic studies at Delhi University, contributing to both his theoretical and performance-based understanding of music.
As a performer, Saqib is known for his melodic precision and command over fast taan patterns, presenting both solo classical recitals and collaborative projects. He is the founder of “Project Singtaar,” a platform showcasing sitar performances in diverse settings, and has been involved in experimental works such as “ANHAD,” a sound-based meditative experience. With performances across cities like Shimla and Bhopal and an active digital presence, he represents a younger generation of artists engaging with both traditional and contemporary audiences.
