About
Biography
Milind Vasudev Kulkarni is a distinguished Indian classical harmonium artist whose work spans performance, composition, and education. Recognized for establishing the harmonium as a powerful solo instrument in Hindustani music, he presents the instrument with clarity, depth, and lyrical expression. His music reflects a strong grounding in classical tradition while remaining open and communicative for contemporary audiences.
As a performer, Milind has collaborated with some of the most respected names in Indian classical music, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Jasraj, Dr. Prabha Atre, Ustad Rashid Khan, and Kaushiki Chakraborty. These associations place him firmly within the mainstream of classical performance, both as a soloist and as a sensitive accompanist.
Beyond the stage, Milind plays an important role in music education. He is the founder of MIVA Music Academy, through which he trains students in harmonium and Hindustani music. He also conducts structured harmonium courses for Darbar Academy, designed for beginners as well as advanced learners. His teaching approach simplifies complex musical ideas, allowing students across the world to engage meaningfully with raga, tala, and technique.
Milind Vasudev’s vision extends beyond performance. Through concerts, compositions, and teaching, he works to deepen the listener’s relationship with Indian classical music, creating spaces where tradition remains alive, accessible, and emotionally resonant.
