Biography
Meher Paralikar is a Hindustani classical vocalist and music educator based in Pune, India. He is a disciple of Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and was a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata. Through his training under a leading exponent of the Patiala gharana, Paralikar has developed a musical foundation rooted in the traditions of Hindustani khayal singing and raga-based performance.
He first gained wider public attention as a participant in the television music competition Idea Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi in 2009. Since then, he has performed in a range of classical music settings, including traditional baithak-style concerts and thematic musical presentations. His performances have been featured at cultural platforms such as programs organized by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), where emerging and established artists present Hindustani classical music to diverse audiences.
Alongside performing, Meher Paralikar is active as a music educator. He teaches at the NCPA Shrutinandan Centre of Excellence in Mumbai, an institution founded by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty to train young musicians in classical vocal music. In addition to institutional teaching, he also offers online lessons focusing on Hindustani vocal techniques and riyaz practices while sharing educational content and practice insights through digital platforms.
