Mayank Bedekar

Mayank is a professionally trained Hindustani classical tabla player who began learning the instrument at the age of four. His early training was under Shri Vinay Wagle (Ujjain), followed by advanced guidance from Shri Suresh Tulankar (Nagpur) and Pandit Kaleramji (Jalandhar). For many years now, he has been receiving advanced taleem from Padma Shri Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, under whose guidance his artistic development has matured.

Academically, Mayank holds a B.Com. from Vikram University, Ujjain, an M.A. in Tabla from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, and a ‘Ko-Vid’ degree in Tabla from the same university. He is recognized as an A-grade artist of All India Radio, reflecting his standing within the Indian classical music system.

As a performer, Mayank is active both as a tabla soloist and as an accompanist for vocal, instrumental, and Kathak dance performances. He has appeared at numerous prestigious music festivals across India, including Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (Pune), Tansen Sangeet Mahotsav (Gwalior), Kalidas Sangeet Samaroh (Ujjain), Swar Mangesh Festival (Goa), Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan, and many others. His international performances include festivals and cultural events in Thailand, France, Mauritius, and other countries.

He has accompanied several leading artists from the Hindustani classical music tradition, including senior vocalists, instrumentalists, and dancers, and has also performed tabla duets and participated in special projects led by his guru. In addition to classical concerts, he has been involved in selected fusion and collaborative music initiatives.

Mayank has received several awards and scholarships, including honors from cultural institutions, a Ministry of Culture scholarship, and empanelment with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). After establishing himself as a performing artist, he began teaching tabla, working earlier as a visiting lecturer at the Goa College of Music and Kalangan Institute, Margao. He currently conducts online and offline tabla classes for students in India and abroad.
