Biography

L. Ramakrishnan comes from a musical family and received his earliest training from his mother. After eight years of vocal study, he began learning the Carnatic violin under Smt. Visalam Vageeswar at Shanmukhananda Vidyalaya in Mumbai, where he also gave his first solo concert at age twelve. At thirteen, he continued his training under Kum. A. Kanyakumari, gaining exposure to her large ensemble presentations and learning practices centered on vocal orientation and sahitya clarity in instrumental performance.

In addition to these primary influences, Ramakrishnan has also trained with Shri T. K. Govinda Rao and Smt. T. R. Balamani. His performance experience includes solo concerts, collaborations, and participation in major ensemble presentations. His background reflects a blend of formal training and concert involvement within the field of Indian classical music, particularly in Carnatic violin performance.
