Biography
Kiran Ahluwalia (born 1 July 1965) is a Canadian singer and composer. Born in Patna, she grew up in Delhi and later moved to Toronto. She combines Indian music with African desert blues and Western musical styles.
She studied at Dalhousie University and later returned to India to pursue music before establishing her career in Toronto. Her work includes albums such as Beyond Boundaries (2003), Wanderlust (2007), and Aam Zameen—Common Ground (2011).
She received the Songlines Music Award for Best Newcomer in 2009 and has also received Juno Awards for her recordings. She has collaborated with guitarist Rez Abbasi and has been active internationally as a performer and recording artist.
