Indrani Mukherjee is a Hindustani classical vocalist specializing in Khayal and Thumri. Trained under Pt. Arun Bhaduri, she performs widely and is an ICCR empaneled and AIR A-grade artist.

Biography

Indrani Mukherjee is a Hindustani classical vocalist known for her work in Khayal (Kirana–Rampur style) and Thumri (Purab Ang). Born in Asansol, West Bengal, she began her musical training at an early age under her family members, including her maternal grandfather, Shri Sanjib Banerjee.

In 1996, she became a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, where she trained under Pandit Arun Bhaduri. She has also received guidance from Vidushi Purnima Choudhury, Pandit Ramashreya Jha, and Vidushi Manju Sundaram.

Indrani Mukherjee is an empaneled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and SPIC MACAY and holds an A-grade artist status with All India Radio for both Khayal and Thumri. She has performed at major music festivals and venues across India and internationally, including events in Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

Her collaborations include international projects such as the album Benares with Erik Truffaz and Malcolm Braff. Alongside performing, she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring students globally through workshops and institutional affiliations, including Darbar Academy.

Her repertoire, grounded in traditional forms, extends into cross-cultural collaborations, contributing to both performance and pedagogy in Indian classical music.
