Indrajit Banerjee

Indrajit Banerjee is a Hindustani classical sitar artist associated with the Maihar Gharana. He comes from a musical lineage and received training under several musicians, including Pandit Kartick Kumar, Pandit Barun Kumar Pal, and Pandit Manilal Nag.

His early musical foundation was shaped within his family, including guidance from his mother, Manju Banerjee, and grandfather, Bankim Kumar Pal. His training reflects influences from both the Maihar and Bishnupur traditions.

He is recognized as an A-grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and is empanelled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Over the years, he has performed internationally across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, presenting solo and collaborative concerts.

Based in Austin, Texas, he is also active as an educator and is the founder of the Antara School of Indian Classical Music, where he teaches sitar. In addition to performance, he has contributed to recordings and compositions for albums and documentary projects.
