Ustad Hamid Ali Khan is a prominent Pakistani classical singer belonging to the Patiala gharana, a vocal tradition known for its rich melodic development, agility in taans, and strong layakari. As a representative of this gharana, he is recognized for both classical khayal singing and ghazal performance.

He was born into a distinguished musical family. His father, Ustad Akhtar Hussain Khan, was a noted classical musician who shaped his early training. He is also the younger brother of celebrated vocalists Amanat Ali Khan and Bade Fateh Ali Khan. This lineage places him within one of the most respected families of the Patiala tradition.

Hamid Ali Khan’s singing is often described as rooted in raga grammar, melodic clarity, and controlled voice production. Commentators have noted that his music reflects the inherited stylistic features of Patiala gayaki while maintaining his individual approach to raga and rhythm.

Over his career, he has released recordings and performed widely, including collaborations with Indian and UK-based musicians. Among recent collaborators are Partha Sarathi Mukherjee (tabla) and Fida Hussain (harmonium), reflecting his continued engagement in concert and recording contexts.

His musical legacy also continues through his children. His sons, Nayab Ali Khan, Wali Hamid Ali Khan, and Inam Ali Khan, are active in music and together formed the band RagaBoyz, which presents classical, Sufi, and fusion-based work. Wali Hamid Ali Khan has additionally appeared as an actor on television.

Hamid Ali Khan has received several recognitions, including:

In 2019, false reports about his death circulated on social media, which were publicly clarified by his family. He remains recognized as a senior representative of the Patiala gharana in Pakistan.
