Inam Ali Khan

Inam Ali Khan is a Pakistani classical and semi-classical vocalist belonging to the Patiala gharana, one of the most prominent vocal traditions in Hindustani music known for its emphasis on layakari, taan work, and expressive presentation. He is the son and disciple of Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, under whose guidance he has received training in the gharana’s repertoire and stylistic approach.

Through his lineage, he is connected to the founding figures of the Patiala tradition, Ustad Ali Bukhsh (often known as “General”) and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan (often known as “Colonel”). This places him within a well-documented vocal genealogy that has shaped North Indian classical singing for over a century.

Alongside classical khayal performance, Inam Ali Khan is active in lighter and contemporary forms. He performs ghazals and Sufi kalaam, and he is also associated with the fusion and Sufi-rock group Raga Boyz, working alongside his brothers Nayab Ali Khan and Wali Hamid Ali Khan.
