About

Dhruv Bedi is a renowned Imdadkhani Gharana sitarist known for his "Gayaki Ang" style. An "A" Grade AIR artist and Yuva Puraskar winner, he performs globally, blending tradition with versatility.

Biography

Dhruv Bedi is a third-generation sitar player. He started learning at age four from his father, Jagdeep Singh Bedi, who is known internationally for Sitar and Surbahar. Dhruv has also been training with Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee, following the traditional Guru-Shishya way.

Dhruv comes from the Imdadkhani Gharana (Etawah). He is known for playing the sitar in a way that sounds like singing, with smooth meends and detailed phrasing. His sense of rhythm and melody is natural and quick. He sticks to tradition but also works with Jazz, Carnatic, Scottish, and Russian musicians.

Dhruv is an A Grade Artist with All India Radio and is on the panels of ICCR and SPIC MACAY. He has played at major events like the World Economic Forum in Davos, the BRICS Summit, and the Kennedy Centre in the USA. In 2018, he got the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from Sangeet Natak Akademi.
