Biography
Dhananjay Mhaskar is an Indian vocalist associated with the Hindustani classical music tradition, known for his performances of classical ragas as well as Marathi devotional and semi-classical forms. His repertoire spans khayal, abhang, natyageet, and bhakti music, reflecting a blend of classical training and regional musical traditions. Through concerts and recordings, he has developed a reputation as a versatile singer capable of presenting both traditional raga-based music and devotional compositions.
Mhaskar received his musical training under Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, one of the prominent vocalists of the Hindustani classical tradition. Under this guidance, he developed a strong foundation in raga presentation and classical vocal techniques. His performances often include detailed interpretations of ragas such as Chandrakauns, accompanied by traditional ensemble support including tabla and harmonium.
Alongside classical concerts, Dhananjay Mhaskar has contributed to devotional and Marathi music recordings. Some of his widely known works include “Garaj Garaj Rock,” “Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Mahamrityunjaya Mantra,” “Sai Baba Aarti—Aarti Sai Baba,” “Apulya Mahera,” “Ganesh Chalisa,” and “Baje Re Muralia Baje.” He regularly appears at cultural festivals, music concerts, and devotional programmes, presenting a repertoire that bridges classical raga music and popular devotional traditions.
