Biography

Bombay Jayashri Ramnath is a Carnatic classical vocalist representing the Lalgudi tradition. Born into a family of musicians, she trained under Lalgudi G. Jayaraman and T. R. Balamani, developing a style rooted in tradition while incorporating individual interpretation.

Her music is noted for its emphasis on melodic development, tonal clarity, and a contemplative approach to raga exposition. In addition to Carnatic training, her exposure to Hindustani music has informed aspects of her musical presentation.

With a performance career spanning over three decades, she has appeared at major venues in India and internationally, including opera houses in Durban and Helsinki. She has also engaged in collaborative projects with Western classical musicians and contributed to cross-cultural presentations.

Alongside performance, she has composed music for dance productions and thematic works and has been involved in educational and outreach initiatives, including workshops and projects exploring the role of music in learning and engagement.
