Ajay Prasanna

Ajay Prasanna was born in 1969 in Allahabad and was introduced to Indian classical music within a culturally rich family environment. His formal training in flute began under the close guidance of his father, Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, a respected exponent of the Banaras gharana. This early and sustained mentorship shaped his command over raga development, tonal purity, breath control, and rhythmic articulation. His musical lineage places him within the same pedagogical tradition that nurtured Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Recognized as one of the prominent international flautists from India, Ajay Prasanna is known for his melodic clarity, effortless fluency, mature interpretation, and technical dexterity. His performances reflect a balanced approach that respects classical grammar while maintaining emotional immediacy. Over the years, he has performed extensively in India and abroad, engaging audiences through both solo recitals and collaborative presentations.
