Biography

Aadithyadev V. Punnayurkulam’s musical journey is rooted in tradition, discipline, and lived devotion. Trained first by his father, Sri Ramesan V. Punnayurkulam, Aadithyadev grew up in an environment where music was not only a performing art but a way of living. His later guidance under Sri C. R. Vaidyanathan strengthened his foundation, giving him clarity in structure, a wide and balanced repertoire, and the discipline required for the concert stage. The mentorship of Ramana Balachandhran further shaped his musical thinking, helping him develop depth, sensitivity, and a more mature interpretative voice.

His move from Guruvayur to Chennai became a turning point, placing him at the center of the Carnatic music world. This phase reached a milestone in 2025, when he won the title at the 14th TOI Times Thyagaraja Awards at the Madras Music Academy—an institution synonymous with artistic excellence. Receiving the award from Sangita Kalanidhi, T. M. Krishna gave the moment special significance.

Beyond formal concerts, Aadithyadev remains deeply connected to devotional traditions. His participation in Unchavrithi during the 179th Thyagaraja Aradhana at Mylapore and his involvement in bhajana practice show a musician shaped equally by the concert platform and spiritual music. With the support of institutions like Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College and communities such as Guruvayoor Bhajanamandali, he continues to grow as a vocalist firmly rooted in parampara while finding his place in today’s Carnatic landscape.
