St. Jakobshalle

St. Jakobshalle is one of Switzerland’s largest indoor event venues and is widely used for sports competitions, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, and cultural performances. The main arena has a seating capacity of around 8,000, which can expand to approximately 12,400 when standing areas are included. The complex also contains several smaller halls with capacities ranging from 450 to 2,300, allowing different types of performances and events to take place simultaneously.

The venue forms part of a broader sports district that includes St. Jakob-Park football stadium, St. Jakob Arena ice rink, and facilities connected to the University of Basel’s Department of Sport, Exercise and Health. This location has made the complex a central hub for sporting and cultural activity in the Basel region.

St. Jakobshalle regularly hosts major international events including the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament, the Swiss Open badminton tournament, and various world championships in sports such as handball and curling. In addition to sporting competitions, the arena has also staged concerts by international artists, large television productions, festivals, trade fairs, and global cultural events such as the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, making it one of Switzerland’s most prominent indoor venues.
