Sri Meenakshi Temple

Sri Meenakshi Temple, located in Pearland within the Houston metropolitan area, Texas, is one of the most prominent Hindu temples in the United States. Dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi (an aspect of Parvati) and Sundareswarar (Shiva), the temple is designed in traditional South Indian Dravidian architectural style by S. M. Ganapathy Sthapathi. Recognized as the only Meenakshi temple outside India, it stands as a significant spiritual and cultural landmark attracting devotees and visitors across the region.

Beyond its religious importance, the temple functions as an active cultural venue hosting Indian classical music concerts, dance performances, and community gatherings. Its auditorium and community spaces are regularly used for cultural programming, including youth initiatives and events such as the WISDOM (VHS) year-end program, making it a key hub for preserving and presenting Indian performing arts in the United States.

The temple complex includes multiple shrines, a kalyana mandapam (function hall), a library, a canteen, and a unique peacock sanctuary.
