Shri Sringeri Shankar Mutt

Shri Sringeri Shankar Mutt, located at Nallakunta in Hyderabad, is the oldest branch math of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham in the city. The land on which the present Math and temple complex stand was donated by the Late Sri Raja Venkata Rao Limbekar as an expression of his devotion to the 34th Jagadguru Shankaracharya, Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Mahaswamiji. Along with offering the land, he also undertook the construction of the temples dedicated to Sri Sharadamba and Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

The Pratishtha Kumbhabhishekam of these temples was performed by the 35th Jagadguru Shankaracharya, Sri Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, on 26 April 1960. This sacred event marked the formal establishment of the Mutt as a spiritual centre in Hyderabad.

Since its inception, the temple and Math have served as a nucleus of religious and cultural activity for the community of Astikas and followers of Sanatana Dharma in the city. The Mutt has continuously functioned as a space for worship, learning, and reflection, preserving the Advaitic lineage of Sringeri and offering spiritual guidance to devotees. Over the decades, Shri Sringeri Shankar Mutt has grown into a respected landmark in Hyderabad, embodying continuity, devotion, and the living presence of the Sringeri tradition.
