Shilpgram

Shilpgram, located near Udaipur in Rajasthan, is a rural arts and crafts complex developed as an ethnographic museum to represent the lifestyles, traditions, and artistic practices of folk and tribal communities. Spread across approximately 70 acres and set against the Aravalli hills, the space brings together architecture, crafts, and performance.

The complex features traditional huts representing different regions and communities from Rajasthan and neighboring states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. These structures showcase everyday objects, crafts, and occupational practices, providing a contextual understanding of rural life and cultural heritage.

A key feature of Shilpgram is its open-air amphitheater with a seating capacity of around 8000, which hosts large-scale cultural events, folk performances, and festivals. The venue also supports workshops, exhibitions, and interactive sessions, enabling engagement between rural artisans and urban audiences.

Shilpgram functions as a platform for artists, craftsmen, and performers, supporting the continuity of traditional practices through live demonstrations, festivals, and direct interaction with visitors.
