About Seven Arts
Seven Arts is an independent cultural space located in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. Established in 2007, the venue has developed into a versatile hub for local and visiting artists, now marking its 18th year of operation. The intimate, 100-seat performance area supports a wide range of programming, including theater, dance, film screenings, comedy, spoken word, and live music events. The venue also features an accessible café bar that contributes to its role as a community gathering point.
Seven Arts was created following a decade of collaborative planning by local residents who sought to strengthen community engagement through the arts. The organization positions itself within the wider Leeds 7 corridor, focusing on connecting diverse cultural communities and providing a platform for regional talent while welcoming innovative work from elsewhere.
Structured as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, Seven Arts operates with a defined social purpose and publishes transparent reports on its community impact. It remains independent in its governance and financial operation, receiving no regular public funding, including from Arts Council England. The initial development of the building was made possible through support from the European Regional Development Fund.
