Medai The Stage

Medai—The Stage is a purpose-built black box performance space created to support and present the performing arts across multiple cities in India. Established as a professional venue for live performances, Medai currently operates three centers—Alwarpet in Chennai (since 2021), Koramangala in Bengaluru (since 2023), and Coimbatore (since 2024). Each venue is centrally located and designed to accommodate diverse artistic formats.

The venue regularly hosts Indian classical music and dance performances, theater productions, workshops, exhibitions, and live events across genres. In addition to providing a flexible performance environment, Medai has curated several recurring cultural initiatives and festivals, including the Margazhi Festival, Theatre Binge, Men’s Monologue, Lasya monthly dance series, and Alapana monthly music series. Collectively, these programmes have contributed to Medai hosting over a thousand performances since its inception.

With a focus on contemporary infrastructure and artist-centric programming, Medai—The Stage functions as an important platform for performers, curators, and audiences, supporting both traditional and modern performance practices within India’s evolving cultural landscape.
