Hemu Gadhvi Auditorium, also known as Hemu Gadhvi Natyagruh, is a major cultural venue in Rajkot, Gujarat, dedicated to theater, music, and performing arts. Opened to the public on 11 August 1998, the auditorium was developed by the Government of Gujarat to address the city’s growing need for a purpose-built cultural space. Located in the western part of Rajkot, the venue has since become a central platform for drama, musical festivals, and cultural programs. Hemu Gadhvi Auditorium was conceived as a dedicated center for arts and cultural activities in Rajkot and was inaugurated in 1998 as a government-supported initiative. Designed as a distinctive glass-and-block structure, the venue stands in a quieter part of the city and serves audiences across Rajkot and the wider Saurashtra region.
The auditorium complex comprises two theaters: a main theater with a seating capacity of 1,077 and a mini theater accommodating 256, both of which can function simultaneously for different events. The halls are equipped with modern acoustics, professional lighting systems, and thoughtfully designed interiors suitable for theater productions, music concerts, and cultural festivals. Additional facilities include ten artist rooms, motorized stage drapery for efficient technical operations, and a closed-circuit monitoring system across the premises.
Since coming under the management of SARGAM, the venue has seen a significant increase in cultural activity, hosting diverse programs that cater to varied artistic interests. Regular maintenance and operational oversight have ensured the auditorium remains functional and accessible for artists and organizers. Today, Hemu Gadhvi Auditorium is regarded as one of Rajkot’s key cultural landmarks and an important performance venue in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
