Chinmaya Mission Centre
Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding, located in Lutyens’ Delhi, is a landmark spiritual and cultural space inspired by the vision of Swami Chinmayananda. Established as part of the Chinmaya Mission’s global movement, the center stands on a site personally chosen by Gurudev during his final journey. It serves as a hub for learning, reflection, and inner growth, welcoming seekers of all ages. With its calm surroundings and thoughtfully designed halls, the center hosts lectures, study circles, youth programs, and children’s activities. Over the years, it has become a beacon of wisdom in the capital, nurturing values, clarity, and community through timeless spiritual teachings.
About Chinmaya Mission Centre
Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding was envisioned by Swami Chinmayananda as a place where knowledge, reflection, and spiritual values could flourish in the heart of India’s capital. During his final journey to Sidhbari, Gurudev chose to rest at this very site, and today his serene image stands there, symbolizing peace and continuity. The center carries forward his belief that spiritual understanding should remain in harmony with everyday life.
Delhi holds a special place in the history of the Mission, having hosted Gurudev’s third yagna in 1953 and the first Bala Vihar off-site camp for children. Established in its present form in 1997 through the efforts of Swami Jyotirmayananda and Swamini Gurupriyananda, the center reflects Gurudev’s vision in both spirit and structure.
Its halls are alive with activity—children learning values, youth engaging in dialogue, seekers exploring Vedanta, and volunteers offering seva. The center also nurtured the growth of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, founded in 1978, reinforcing Gurudev’s belief that children shape the nation’s future. Supported by affiliated centers in Noida, Gurgaon, and Chittaranjan Park, and guided by Acharya Swami Prakarshananda, the Delhi Centre continues to stand as a living space of wisdom, inquiry, and inner integration.
