Bansera Park is Delhi’s first public park developed around a bamboo-based ecological concept, located near Sarai Kale Khan along the western bank of the Yamuna River. About Baansera Park
Bansera Park, also known as Baansera, was conceptualized as a sustainable urban park and formally opened to the public in September 2023, following the laying of its foundation on 9 August 2022. Developed over an area of more than 10 hectares within the Yamuna floodplain zone, the park represents a distinctive approach to ecological landscaping in Delhi.
A defining feature of Bansera Park is its extensive bamboo plantation, with saplings sourced from multiple regions of India, including Assam. The park is organized into two primary zones—Bamboo Plantation and Bamboo Recreation—allowing visitors to experience both curated green spaces and leisure-friendly areas. All built elements within the park, such as seating areas, kiosks, huts, and viewing structures, are constructed using bamboo, reinforcing the park’s environmentally responsible design philosophy.
Adding to its natural appeal, a depression spanning approximately six acres has been transformed into a water body, enhancing biodiversity and creating a serene visual landscape. With its emphasis on sustainability, native planting, and minimal-impact infrastructure, Bansera Park stands out as a thoughtfully planned venue suitable for nature walks, educational visits, and quiet public engagement with Delhi’s evolving green spaces.
