Wilayah Persekutuan (Federal Territories) refers to the three federally administered regions of Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya. The Malaysian federal government directly governs these territories, distinct from the country’s 13 states. Each territory operates under a unified federal administration but retains unique administrative structures tailored to its role.

Kuala Lumpur, established as a federal territory in 1974, serves as Malaysia’s national capital and primary economic hub. The city houses key government institutions, financial centers, and cultural landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers. Labuan, designated a federal territory in 1984, functions as an offshore financial center and duty-free island in East Malaysia. Each territory possesses a designated mayor or administrator appointed by the federal government. The territories collectively contribute to Malaysia’s political, economic, and administrative framework without state-level autonomy.

Cultural and demographic diversity characterizes the Federal Territories. Kuala Lumpur’s population reflects Malaysia’s multicultural composition, with significant Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities. Labuan’s smaller population includes a mix of ethnic groups and expatriates due to its financial sector. Putrajaya, as a planned city, accommodates civil servants and diplomatic personnel. The territories observe federal holidays and policies but may implement localized regulations for urban management or economic zones.

Notable infrastructure projects link the territories. The Kuala Lumpur–Putrajaya highway facilitates government operations, while Labuan’s port and airport support its trade and tourism sectors. Public transportation networks, including the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya’s monorail, integrate the regions with broader Malaysia. The federal government allocates budgets for sustainable development, digital transformation, and public services across all three territories.

Limited information exists on unified cultural or artistic output specific to the Federal Territories as a collective entity. Individual territories host events such as Kuala Lumpur’s annual New Year celebrations at Dataran Merdeka, Labuan’s international offshore business conferences, and Putrajaya’s Flora Festival. No single artistic work, release, or media project represents the Federal Territories exclusively. Administrative records and federal reports remain the primary sources for governance and policy details.
