Maidenhead is a market town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. The town sits on the River Thames approximately 26 miles west of central London and 16 miles east of Reading. Historically a coaching stop on the Bath Road, Maidenhead developed as a residential and commercial hub in the 19th century following the arrival of the Great Western Railway in 1838. The town’s name derives from Old English, with early records citing variations such as Medenhitha (9th century) and Maydenhithe (13th century), reflecting its origins as a riverside settlement.

The town’s cultural landscape includes associations with classical music through local institutions and events. The Maidenhead Choral Society, founded in 1923, performs choral works in venues such as St. Mary’s Church and the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.
