Los Altos Hills is an incorporated town in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The municipality occupies a portion of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the southwestern San Francisco Bay Area. The town spans approximately 22.8 square miles and features a semi-rural character with expansive lots, open spaces and a low population density. The United States Census Bureau recorded a population of 8,675 in 2020.

The area was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people prior to Spanish colonization. European settlement began in the 19th century with land grants under Mexican rule, including Rancho La Purísima Concepción. The modern community developed in the early 20th century as a retreat for affluent residents from nearby urban centers. Los Altos Hills incorporated as a town in 1956 to preserve its zoning regulations and resist annexation by adjacent cities.
