About Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha

Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha is one of Delhi's longstanding cultural organisations dedicated to promoting Carnatic music, Indian classical dance, and South Indian performing arts. Established in 1950, the Sabha presents regular concerts, annual music festivals, lecture-demonstrations, and cultural programmes featuring leading musicians, dancers, and emerging artists. Over the decades, it has hosted thousands of performances by nationally recognised artistes, including numerous Padma awardees, while providing audiences in the national capital with continued access to India's classical performing arts. Through its concert series and festivals, the Sabha continues to preserve, promote, and encourage the traditions of Indian classical music and dance.

History

The origins of Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha trace back to 1948, when a group of young South Indian professionals in Delhi formed a cultural society that was formally inaugurated as Sree Shanmukhananda Sabha in 1950. Initially established to provide music education, the organisation later shifted its focus to presenting concerts and festivals by leading Carnatic musicians visiting Delhi. Since then, it has organised more than 3,000 concerts, dance performances, and lecture-demonstrations, becoming one of the capital's most established institutions for Indian classical performing arts.
