Sangeet Piyasi is a renowned cultural organisation founded in 1992 by disciples of tabla maestro Krishna Kumar Ganguly, also known as Natu Babu. Based in Kolkata, the organisation is devoted to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Hindustani classical music through concerts, festivals, seminars, workshops, competitions, scholarships, and regular music training programs. Sangeet Piyasi is widely recognised for supporting emerging talent, honouring legendary musicians, and organising the prestigious Sangeet Piyasi Annual Music Festival.

History

Sangeet Piyasi began its journey in 1992 under the inspiration of Krishna Kumar Ganguly of the Benaras and Lucknow gharanas. The organisation was formally named “Sangeet Piyasi” by Natu Babu in 1993, while its logo was designed by legendary tabla maestro Kishan Maharaj. Since then, it has grown into a major institution for Hindustani classical music in West Bengal.
