About Sanatkada Trust
Sanatkada Trust is a socio-cultural non-profit institution founded to preserve and celebrate the syncretic heritage, crafts, cuisine, literature, and artistic traditions of Lucknow and Awadh. Established by social activist Madhavi Kuckreja, the organisation empowers artisans, supports women-led initiatives, promotes heritage conservation, and documents regional cultural histories. The trust is widely recognised for organising the Mahindra Sanatkada Lucknow Festival along with heritage walks, cultural archives, craft initiatives, storytelling projects, and culinary experiences rooted in Awadhi culture.
History
Sanatkada Trust was founded with the vision of creating a sustainable platform to preserve Lucknow’s composite cultural heritage and support traditional artisans. Over the years, the trust expanded from craft-based initiatives into a major cultural institution through festivals, heritage projects, museums, women-led enterprises, and educational programs focused on Awadhi history, crafts, literature, and performing arts.
