About Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi
Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi is the premier state institution dedicated to preserving and promoting Odisha’s performing arts traditions, including music, dance, drama, folk arts, and tribal culture. Established under the Government of Odisha, the Akademi organises major cultural festivals, research programs, workshops, theatre events, and artist recognition initiatives across the state. It is widely known for hosting landmark festivals, such as the Rajarani Music Festival, and for supporting the growth of Odissi and folk traditions.
History
Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi was originally founded in 1954 as the Utkal Nrutya Sangeeta Natya Kala Parishad by the Government of Odisha. In 1957, the institution was officially renamed Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi to strengthen state support for music, dance, theatre, and the preservation of traditional culture across Odisha.
