Lokmanya Cultural Foundation

Lokmanya Cultural Foundation was formed in 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Kiran Thakur, founder and chairman of the Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-Op Society. Headquartered in Pune, the organization works in the fields of Indian classical arts, literature, and cultural heritage, with an emphasis on accessible, community-oriented programming.

The foundation curates and co-organizes events across disciplines. In February 2026, it is a co-organizer of Goa’s first National Book Festival, to be held at Bandodkar Stadium, Campal. Its annual Aatmabodhi Solo Dance Festival focuses on Indian classical dance; the November 2025 edition included workshops and performances by artists such as Guru Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi) and Sanjukta Sinha (Kathak). Other initiatives include Rang Maifilicha, a musical program held in October 2025 at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, and the Yog-Yogi Festival, presented in February 2025 in connection with Mahashivaratri.

In addition to performance-based events, the foundation supports literary and community activities, including reading sessions and book signings such as the Pune Bookies event featuring author Shantanu Naidu in January 2026.

Legally registered as a Section 8 private limited company (CIN: U88900PN2025NPL236961), Lokmanya Cultural Foundation functions as a non-profit cultural body. Through festivals, talks, workshops, and publications, it contributes to the documentation, presentation, and circulation of Indian classical and literary traditions in contemporary urban contexts.
