About Kamban Kazhagam Australia
Kamban Kazhagam Australia is a leading Tamil cultural organisation founded to promote the literary, artistic, and cultural heritage of the Tamil community in Australia. Named after the celebrated Tamil poet Kambar, author of the Kamba Ramayanam, the organisation focuses on advancing the traditional pillars of Tamil culture— Iyal (Literature), Isai (Music), and Natakam (Drama). Through literary forums, music programs, cultural festivals, educational initiatives, and community events, Kamban Kazhagam Australia encourages engagement with Tamil language, arts, and heritage among both younger and older generations. The organisation serves as an important platform for preserving classical Tamil traditions while fostering cultural awareness and community participation within the Australian multicultural landscape.
History
Kamban Kazhagam Australia Inc. was established by Jeiram Jegathesan with the vision of bringing the teachings, values, and literary richness of the Kamba Ramayanam to audiences across Australia. Inspired by the timeless works of the medieval Tamil poet Kambar, the organisation was founded to preserve and celebrate Tamil literary and artistic traditions among the growing Tamil diaspora. Over the years, it has developed into a respected cultural institution, organising literary gatherings, music performances, dramatic presentations, and educational programs. Celebrating more than two decades of service, Kamban Kazhagam Australia continues to play a significant role in strengthening Tamil cultural identity and promoting classical heritage within the Australian community.
