About Charsur Arts Foundation

Charsur Arts Foundation is a Chennai-based non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and supporting Carnatic music through year-round cultural programmes. The foundation presents major festivals including the December Season Music Festival, Young Talent Festival, Marghazhi Sangeetotsavam, Mid-Year Music Festival, Sangitaka Griha chamber concerts, and thematic concerts during Mahashivaratri and Navaratri. Alongside concert presentation, it conducts music workshops, supports emerging artists, preserves archival recordings, promotes dance through Nrithya Samutsavam, and undertakes educational initiatives that strengthen the continuity of the Carnatic music tradition.

History

Charsur Arts Foundation was established as a non-profit organisation to preserve and promote the traditions of Carnatic music, support artists, and expand access to classical performances. Building on the cultural initiatives of Charsur, the foundation has developed a diverse programme of festivals, chamber concerts, educational workshops, archival projects, and artist development initiatives, creating a sustained platform for both established maestros and the next generation of Carnatic musicians.
