Raga Todi

Pannalal Ghosh performed Raga Todi as the opening track on the album Hindustani Classical – Flute. The All India Radio label released the recording in 2006 on CD. Ghosh rendered the raga in the khayal style, showcasing the bansuri (North Indian bamboo flute) as the primary instrument. The composition adheres to the structural conventions of Raga Todi, a morning raga from the Todi thaat characterized by its use of komal re (flattened second) and komal dha (flattened sixth).

The album captures Ghosh’s interpretation of the raga with an emphasis on alaap, jor, and jhala followed by a composed gat in vilambit (slow) and drut (fast) ektaal. Accompaniment details remain undocumented in available sources, though traditional tabla and tanpura support is standard for such recordings.
