Bhatiyali Dhun

A Night to Remember is a studio album featuring a collaboration between sitarist Ustad Vilayat Khan and tabla player Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. The label Navras Records released the recording on CD in 2013. The album captures a live-in-studio performance centered on North Indian classical music traditions.

The opening track Bhatiyali Dhun exemplifies the artists’ interpretation of the bhatiyali genre, a folk-inspired raga form associated with the riverine culture of Bengal and eastern India. Their partnership on this album reflects the cross-gharana exchanges common in post-independence Indian classical music.
