Biography
Vivek V Krishna is widely recognized as one of the leading Carnatic flute performers of his generation, celebrated for his deep-rooted dedication to tradition, a keen aesthetic sense, and sincere performances. With training under esteemed gurus Vidwan H. S. Venugopal and Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan, he boasts over twenty years of experience as both a soloist and recording artist, and he holds a grading as a notable artist from All India Radio.
Vivek is renowned for his powerful blowing technique, adaptability, and innovative artistry, earning accolades from both connoisseurs and critics. He is highly sought after in the Bharatanatyam realm, having collaborated with iconic dancers like Vyjayanthimala, Shobana, Leela Samson, K. J. Sarasa, Priyadarshini Govind, Alarmel Valli, and the late Kalyanasundaram Pillai. He has also performed alongside prominent musicians such as T. M. Krishna, Bombay Jayashri, and O. S. Arun.
Vivek has toured extensively across the USA, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Muscat, Japan, Fiji, and other locations, supporting both emerging and established artists worldwide. His significant contributions to the art have been honored with awards like Kalavatamsa, Yuva Puraskar, and Kala Yogi. Together with his wife, the renowned danseuse Aranya Narain, he showcases Flute n Feet, a distinctive and harmonious blend of Carnatic flute and Bharatanatyam inspired by the Kalakshetra tradition. They also co-manage the Flute n Feet Academy in Bangalore, where they are dedicated to teaching Bharatanatyam and Carnatic flute in their authentic classical forms, fostering the next generation with respect, depth, and a commitment to tradition.
