Biography

Vishnu Venkatesh is a Bengaluru-based Carnatic mandolin artist trained in the lineage of Padma Shri Mandolin U. Srinivas. Shaped by the guru-shishya parampara, his music reflects a disciplined grounding in Carnatic structure, with emphasis on raga clarity, tonal precision, and measured manodharma. His approach to the mandolin retains the lyrical phrasing and vocal sensitivity that define the instrument’s modern Carnatic idiom.

Vishnu has performed in spiritually and culturally significant spaces, including Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Kanchipuram, on the occasion of Sri Purandara Dasa Jayanthi, in front of the Sri Mahaperiyava Samadhi, accompanied by S. N. Lakshmi Narayana, V. Narayana Swamy, and Satyanarayan, in the presence of Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Swami and Sri Satya Chandrashekhara Saraswati Swami. He has also rendered music for ritual contexts such as the Shayanotsava Seva at Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Vontikoppal, Mysuru, with H. Yashaswee (Tumkur) and Kumar Swamy.

Alongside his musical practice, Vishnu is a software engineer and has been associated with All India Radio (Akashvani), MES Kishore Kendra, and R.V. College of Engineering. His trajectory reflects a contemporary Carnatic musician rooted in tradition, steadily building a concert profile through devotional, institutional, and broadcast platforms.
