Biography
Vijay Venkat is a renowned Indian multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and educator specializing in South Indian Carnatic classical music. Born in Madras (Chennai), he trained under his father I.R. Rama Mohan and became proficient in violin, viola, flute, keyboard, and vichitra veena, an ancient Indian fretless slide instrument. Known for blending Carnatic traditions with jazz, fusion, and world music, Vijay has performed internationally at major festivals and collaborated with global artists and orchestras, including the BBC Philharmonic. He is also an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and has taught music extensively in the UK.
